A New Benchmark in Travel Comfort: Volkswagen ID.7's ergoActive Seats Secure AGR Certification

The much-anticipated Volkswagen ID.7, targeted at the upper mid-sized electric vehicle market, promises an unprecedented level of travel comfort. One of the standout features contributing to this is the optional ergoActive premium seats, which have been awarded the distinguished certification from the German Campaign for Healthier Backs (AGR).

Innovative Design for Spinal Health

The creation of these seats was a collaborative effort between Volkswagen engineers and AGR’s team of orthopaedic specialists, physiotherapists, and sports scientists. These seats are a marvel of engineering, featuring 12 strategically placed air cushions—10 in the backrest and two in the seat—that engage the pelvis and spine. These air cushions alternate in sequence, providing a massage-like effect designed to relieve tension and encourage subtle movement. Ulrich Kuhnt, AGR consultant and Chair of the German Association of Back Schools, points out that such movement prevents the buildup of tension and even enhances concentration and metabolic activity.

Custom Comfort with Intelligent Climate Control

What sets the ergoActive seats apart further is their range of customization features. These include a 12-way electric seat adjustment, manual two-way seat depth adjustment, and a memory function. Additionally, the seats offer dynamic air conditioning, a first in the automotive industry. This allows the seat cushion and backrest to be individually heated or cooled, thereby creating an optimal climate tailored to each occupant’s preference.

This AGR certification signifies a union of luxury and ergonomic design, establishing the ergoActive seats as a groundbreaking feature in the Volkswagen ID.7.
